Solar installation and repair in Encinitas, near Carlsbad, CA

Encinitas has one permit rule that most inland cities do not: homes in its coastal bluff zone cannot use the instant path.

What the Encinitas permit page says

The City of Encinitas says it accepts photovoltaic-only and photovoltaic-with-battery permits through SolarAPP+. A contractor submits the design, pays a $25 SolarAPP+ processing fee, and then applies on the city's self-service portal, where the permit is issued instantly. Only licensed contractors with an active Encinitas business license can use it, ground-mount and ballasted systems are not eligible, and a re-roof needs its own permit.

Homes inside the Coastal Bluff Overlay Zone are not eligible for SolarAPP+, because those permits need an additional geotechnical assessment. If your home is near the bluffs, ask the contractor we connect you with to check this first. Main panel upgrades were not yet part of the SolarAPP+ path when the city's page was last read. The general steps are in the permit guide, and battery pricing questions are on the battery storage page.
